In June, the Children’s Clinical University Hospital concluded its largest-ever digital skills development programme, providing more than 200 employees with the opportunity to develop practical skills in using artificial intelligence (AI) tools in their daily work.
The training programme was delivered through the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility project “EDIC Digital Skills Development for Businesses” (LIFT) in partnership with Riga Business School, which provided the training.
“This year we are launching the implementation of the Children’s Hospital’s new five-year strategy, where the development of our people, digital transformation, and innovation are among our highest priorities. Technology is evolving rapidly, and our goal is to equip our team with the skills needed to use these tools confidently, responsibly, and effectively. The AI training programme represents a strategic investment in our people. The better we are able to harness the opportunities offered by emerging technologies, the more effectively we can improve treatment outcomes and enhance the patient experience,” said Valts Ābols, Chairman of the Board of the Children’s Clinical University Hospital.
The LIFT project has become one of Latvia’s largest digital skills initiatives, helping more than 5,800 professionals from approximately 660 companies and organisations strengthen their ability to apply artificial intelligence and other digital technologies in their work.
“Feedback from thousands of participants across hundreds of organisations demonstrates that these programmes deliver tangible benefits in everyday work. They help professionals build practical digital competencies, increase productivity, and accelerate organisational digital transformation. The Children’s Clinical University Hospital is an excellent example of an organisation that is embracing digital transformation not only by investing in technology, but also by investing strategically in its people and their readiness for the future. Through initiatives such as LIFT, we are helping organisations across Latvia build the digital capabilities needed to remain competitive in an AI-driven world,” said Paula Elksne-Reveliņa, Interim Director of Riga Business School.
