Next Friday, 14 March, for the third time, the conference “Idea Day” for teachers and educational technology experts will be organized by Riga Business School as a structural unit of Riga Technical University. Teachers of technology education in grades 7-12 are invited to register for the conference by 8 March: https://idejudiena.rbs.lv/
This year’s conference theme, “Artificial Intelligence in Education,” will focus on the opportunities and challenges of AI in learning. Participants can draw inspiration from stories of experience, participate in practical workshops, and explore concrete tools that will help integrate AI effectively into education.
“We invite teachers to participate in Idea Day to stay one step ahead of technological change. AI is entering all walks of life, including education, so teachers must be familiar with it. Students are already using AI tools – with or without teacher support. Our job is to help students use AI in a useful way while at the same time not losing out on other skills. On the other hand, we know that a teacher’s work is intensive and time-consuming. Hence, AI tools are also useful for teachers to prepare lessons faster and carry out various administrative tasks. Idea Day will be a great opportunity to get inspired and learn new knowledge and skills!” says Anda Priedīte, Executive Director of the IT Education Foundation.
“Artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing every industry, and education is no exception. In fact, it is one of the areas where the impact of AI is most significant – from personalized learning to new ways to develop critical thinking and creativity. Technology alone does not change education – teachers do, and they are ready to seize new opportunities to inspire, support, and shape the minds of the future. The conference is a great opportunity to explore the latest solutions, share experiences, and find ideas on how AI can help you in your everyday work. Together, we can create a learning environment that is dynamic, inclusive, and ready for the challenges of the future!” says Māris Aizbalts, Member of the Board of TOMEGA.
In the first part of the conference, education and technology experts from Latvia and abroad will share their knowledge and experience, including Dr. Vanessa Camilleri, Senior Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Malta, Kaspars Kauliņš, International Business Development Director at Tilde, and Egle Tamelīte, Head of the Samsung “Solve for Tomorrow” initiative in the Baltics. The experts will discuss how artificial intelligence can improve learning, personalize the approach to students, foster creativity, and raise security, ethics, and data protection issues.
In the second part of the day, teachers can participate in hands-on workshops covering the basics of artificial intelligence, safety and ethical issues, and innovative methods for applying artificial intelligence in teaching. The final session will be a panel discussion on “What do teachers and students need to know about AI?”
The Ministry of Education and Science, LMT, IT Education Foundation, AUGT Foundation, TOMEGA, and EU Code Week support the event.
The event will occur at Riga Technical University, Zunda Krastmala 8, and part of the program will be broadcast live. Participation is free of charge. For more information and to register, visit: https://idejudiena.rbs.lv/
