On 14 March, for the third time, the conference “Idea Day” for teachers and educational technology experts will take place, organized by Riga Business School as a structural unit of Riga Technical University with financial support from LMT, Start IT, AUGT Foundation and EU Code Week. The theme of this year’s conference – “Artificial Intelligence in Education” – will offer inspiring stories, practical workshops, and specific tools for teachers to effectively and purposefully apply AI in their teaching. Teachers of technology in grades 7-12 are invited to register for the conference by 8 March here: https://idejudiena.rbs.lv/
In the first part of the conference, “Idea Day,” inspirational stories will be shared by experts from both foreign and Latvian education and technology sectors, including Dr Vanessa Camilleri, Senior Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Malta, Kaspars Kauliņš, Director of International Business Development at Tilde, and Egle Tamelīte, Head of the Samsung “Solve for Tomorrow” initiative in the Baltics. The experts will discuss how AI can enrich the learning process, improve the individual approach to students, foster creativity, and address important security issues, ethics, and data protection.
Inese Muzikante, Director of Riga Business School: “Building on the good experience of previous years, this year we invite technology teachers to explore the latest possibilities of using artificial intelligence in education. Our goal is to provide teachers with theoretical understanding and practical tools and methods to help improve the teaching process and promote digital skills development.”
Ingmārs Pūķis, Vice President of LMT: “You don’t have to be a technology innovator to see that AI is becoming an integral part of life, and those who keep pace with the new possibilities will benefit by acquiring skills that are important for the labor market early on. AI solutions are advancing so fast that, if we wait skeptically, the gap between the first and the last carriage on this train could be abysmal. Modern education is inextricably linked to the latest breakthroughs and technologies, so teachers must reserve a front-row seat from where it is easier to see new horizons and encourage others to follow.”
Anda Čakša, Minister of Education and Science: “Artificial intelligence is already changing the education landscape, and our challenge is to equip students and teachers with the knowledge and tools to use these technologies in a meaningful and responsible way. Idea Day is a great opportunity for educators to learn the latest techniques and be inspired by experienced experts to create personalized learning that prepares students for future challenges. Latvia will only be competitive if we can skillfully integrate technological innovations into education and ensure high-quality education for every child in every place in Latvia.”
In the second part of the day, educators can participate in hands-on workshops covering the basics of AI, solutions for teachers, safety, and ethics, and integrating creativity and AI into the learning process. The conference will conclude with a panel discussion on the meaningful use of AI, its role and impact in education, and networking for teachers to exchange experiences and contacts.
Idea Day aims to inspire and educate technology teachers on the latest trends in AI in education and present solutions and methods for the meaningful use of AI in schools. It is a unique platform for teachers to broaden their horizons and acquire new skills to use technology more effectively in education.
The conference is supported by LMT, the Ministry of Education and Science, AUGT Foundation, Riga Technical University, Start IT, Tomega, and EU Code Week.
The conference will take place at Riga Technical University, Zunda Krastmala 8. More information about the conference and registration here: https://idejudiena.rbs.lv/
