Riga Puzzle Day is a logic game borrowed from Harvard University, where it has already become a tradition. During the game, both school students and university students are invited to solve tricky logic tasks, using their creativity and problem-solving skills. The tasks are designed to be engaging and to encourage critical thinking.

For the third logic game in Riga, we invite 11th–12th grade students of Riga, representing their schools in teams of 2–3 students.

During the game, students will receive 10 logic tasks, which must be solved within three hours. Each task has only one correct answer, and it is a single word. Students may use the internet to complete the tasks. The winning team will be the one with the highest number of correct answers in the shortest time. The three teams with the highest results will receive prizes from the supporters of the game.

Within this initiative, Riga Municipality and Riga Business School aim to invite more young people to:

  • develop problem-solving and creative thinking among students;
  • involve students in solving logic tasks, which are the basis for further learning of programming;
  • promote students’ collaboration skills in problem-solving;
  • foster students’ interest in information technologies and engagement in programming.

This has already become a great tradition, where students from many Riga schools are brought together to embark on a shared adventure – searching for solutions to unprecedented tasks, using logic, creativity, and teamwork. It is a way to show the young generation that learning can be exciting and that the future belongs to those who are not afraid to face non-standard questions, realizing that their solution requires collaboration with others, logical thinking, and the ability to see things from perspectives not encountered before,” notes Bachelor Program Director Claudio Rivera.

While students are solving the logic tasks, teachers will have the opportunity to attend informative and engaging sessions to enhance their personal and professional competences.
