Information prepared by the RTU Public Relations Department

The working group has prepared an informational report on the reorganization of the RTU Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management (FEEM) and Riga Business School (RBS). The report was reviewed by the RTU Council at its meeting on March 26, with a request to introduce certain refinements and to develop a more detailed investment and return plan.

In the report, the working group outlines a vision for structural changes within the newly forming business and management education center (Riga Business School), as well as a mapping of study programs, priority investment areas, and key research directions.

Following its review of the report, the University Council has tasked the head of the working group, Ieva Rācenāja, with preparing a more detailed investment plan for the reorganization, aligning it with the strategic development objectives and expected outcomes. Upon receiving this, the Council plans to make a decision on the timeline and framework for implementing the reorganization of FEEM and RBS.

The reorganization working group was established in January of this year and is led by RTU Deputy Vice-Rector for Studies Ieva Rācenāja. The group includes RTU Deputy Vice-Rector for Research Gatis Bažbauers, RTU Chief Operating Officer Inga Bratēna, Director of the RTU Study Department Laura Zaķe, Senior Expert at the Office of the Vice-Rector for Development and Finance Daina Beļicka, RBS Director Inese Muzikante, FEEM Vice-Dean for Research Inga Jēkabsone, Senior Expert at the RBS Education Innovation Center Arkādijs Zvaigzne, FEEM Associate Professor and Head of the Student Service Center Līga Kamola, FEEM Associate Professor Anita Straujuma, RTU Trade Union representative Rita Greitāne, and President of the RTU Student Parliament Kārlis Sīmanis. The working group is moderated by RBS Senior Lecturer Gregory Scott Mathers.

The changes concerning RTU IEVF and RBS were initiated following the decision of the RTU Council on December 18, 2025, to reorganize these structural units. The goal is to establish, by 2027, a modern and internationally recognized business and management education center of significance in the Baltic region, strengthening Latvia’s competitiveness and preparing future leaders of technology-driven companies, change-makers, and startup founders.
