RTU Riga Business School (RBS) has received official confirmation that its application to enter the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation process has been confirmed as eligible. This decision allows RBS to formally begin the initial accreditation process.
The Eligibility Review Committee approved RBS’s application through a formal vote, recognizing that the school meets the required criteria and is ready to proceed in line with AACSB’s international quality standards.
Currently, no higher education institution in Latvia has obtained AACSB accreditation.
“This is the first step, but a very significant one in the development of Riga Business School. Being admitted to the AACSB accreditation process confirms our and Riga Technical University’s long-term commitment to ensuring the highest academic quality, adhering to international standards, and continuously improving our performance,” emphasizes RBS Director Inese Muzikante.
In the next phase, RBS working closely with an assigned AACSB accreditation advisor and mentor will prepare an Initial Self-Evaluation Report. This will assess the school’s alignment with AACSB standards, including strategic management, faculty qualifications, research activities, and quality assurance processes for learning outcomes.
AACSB accreditation is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious quality benchmarks in business education worldwide. Fewer than six percent of business schools globally have achieved it, making it a recognized mark of excellence, strong governance, and continuous improvement.
For RBS, the accreditation process is closely aligned with its strategic priorities: academic excellence, industry collaboration, research, and international partnerships. It further strengthens ties with industry and reinforces the school’s commitment to delivering practice-oriented, internationally competitive education at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
At the same time, as part of the broader reorganization process involving RBS and RTU’s Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management, the pursuit of AACSB accreditation remains a key priority.
