Bachelor in Business Administration at Riga Business School
The Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) at Riga Business School (RBS) offers an internationally recognized, practice-oriented education in business. Graduates earn the Riga Business School of Riga Technical University Bachelor's degree of Social Sciences in Management and Administration, combining academic rigor with real-world experience. The program is developed in collaboration with leading universities worldwide, ensuring students receive a truly international and cutting-edge education.
Semester Structure and Curriculum
The BBA program does not follow the traditional semester system found at many universities. Instead, it is structured according to North American academic standards. All exams are completed before Christmas, with no January session. After the spring semester, students have a four-month professional development period (May–September), allowing them to pursue internships, professional projects, or personal development initiatives.
The curriculum develops students across three core skill areas:
Hard Skills – fundamental business knowledge and technical competencies gained through practical coursework.
21st Century Skills – essential interpersonal and leadership abilities needed for modern teamwork and communication.
Essential Skills – foundational digital, analytical, and data-related capabilities required in today's technology-driven business environment.
This structure ensures students graduate with a well-rounded skill set ready to meet modern business challenges.
Project-Based Learning
Project-based learning (PBL) is central to the BBA program. From the very first day of studies, students are tasked with developing an entrepreneurship in a Latvian municipality. Last year, the focus was on Saldus Municipality, culminating in presentations at Saldus Spark in mid-December.
All courses prioritize practical projects over theory, helping students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving skills from day one.
International Community
The BBA program fosters a diverse international community. Students and faculty from around the world contribute to a multicultural learning environment, providing global perspectives and real-world insights into international business practices.
Program Focus Areas and AI Integration
Students can specialize in areas aligned with their career interests, including:
- Business Management and Strategy – leadership and organizational skills.
- Finance and Economics – financial analysis, investment, and economic decision-making.
- Marketing and Entrepreneurship – creativity, innovation, and business growth.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business – a unique focus at RBS, integrating AI tools and methodologies to optimize decisions, drive innovation, and address modern business challenges.
This tailored approach ensures students gain deep expertise in fields that match their career goals.
Exchange Opportunities
BBA students have access to a variety of international exchange programs:
- Semester exchanges at universities worldwide, including popular destinations in Asia, Europe, and North America.
- Erasmus+ exchanges across Europe.
- Double degree options, either at Norwegian business schools or in the fourth year at a partner university in the USA.
These opportunities broaden academic, cultural, and professional experiences, giving students a global perspective.
Career Development
Professional engagement starts early in the program. Many students begin internships after their first year, often continuing to work part-time with the same companies. This approach allows students to develop skills, build networks, and start advancing their careers while still studying.
Graduates leave RBS with analytical skills, international exposure, project-based experience, and AI competence, making them highly sought-after in fields such as consulting, finance, marketing, technology, and AI-driven business roles.
Why Choose the BBA Program at RBS?
The BBA program provides a transformative educational experience. With small class sizes, international faculty, a strong focus on AI and innovation, global exchange opportunities, and project-based learning from day one, students are equipped with the skills, confidence, and global perspective to succeed in modern business.
