This autumn marks 25 years since Riga Business School (RBS) at Riga Technical University, in cooperation with the University at Buffalo (USA), established Latvia’s first master’s program for senior executives – the Executive MBA (Master of Business Administration). The program’s mission is to provide senior leaders in business, public administration, and organizations with internationally recognized knowledge and skills that foster professional growth and contribute to the development of society as a whole.
Since its inception, nearly 200 executives have graduated from the Executive MBA program. Today, they hold key positions in leading Latvian and international companies, organizations, and public institutions. Currently, 20 students are enrolled in the program.
It is particularly significant that among the graduates are high-ranking public officials, government ministers, and NGO leaders whose decisions shape not only individual organizations but society at large. As RBS’s mission is to deliver education for leadership in the age of technology, the Executive MBA program offers special conditions for public sector and NGO leaders to encourage their participation and engagement in this journey of growth and leadership.
“The Executive MBA program was created with a clear purpose – to develop future leaders. Leaders who are curious, responsible, and ready to drive change within themselves, their organizations, and society. I am proud to say that this goal remains as relevant today as it was 25 years ago. Our graduates continue to inspire, lead organizations, shape industries, and make meaningful contributions to society – both in Latvia and beyond,” says Nellija Titova, Director of RBS Master’s Programs.
To mark the anniversary, on Thursday, October 16, RBS will bring together Executive MBA alumni, current students, faculty, guests, and supporters at the Ola Foundation. The event will celebrate key milestones in the program’s history, reunite graduates with program founders and peers, and look ahead to future ambitions.
The RBS Executive MBA is a 20-month English-language program tailored for senior executives, allowing them to successfully balance studies with professional responsibilities. The program includes two international study trips – one within Europe and one outside it – as well as a Leadership Development Practicum that runs throughout the study process.
Combining the North American approach to management education with the best of European practice, the program offers students a broad perspective and innovative insights into leadership. It equips senior executives with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to foster entrepreneurship, lead transformation, and become inspiring leaders in their respective fields.
