Apply for professional development courses for teachers in technology education!
Riga Business School as a department of Riga Technical University in cooperation with the National Centre for Education and the programming school “Learn IT” invites teachers of technology education to join professional development courses for teachers in the summer. There are four programmes on offer, in which you will learn the curriculum content in Computer Science, Programming and Design and Technology, as well as the methodology for teaching this content at the appropriate age level.
Duration: 36-72 academic hours
Course: online and in person at Riga Technical University, Riga Business School.
Fees: the courses are financed from the state budget in cooperation with the National Centre for Education and are free of charge for teachers.

About the courses
Digital literacy development for computer science teachers, starting the implementation of the programming curriculum in computer science in grades 7-9:
- Introduction to Python programming;
- Variables and their types;
- Using functions;
- Cycles and their types;
- Working with simple data structures;
- Planning, developing, presenting a programming project.
“Design and Technology” course content and approach in secondary school:
- Technological principles;
- Prototyping and testing design solutions;
- Business model of a product or service;
- Planning and implementing marketing activities.
Digital literacy development for computing teachers, starting the implementation of the programming curriculum in computing in grades 4-6:
- Introduction to the visual programming language Scratch;
- Linear, cyclic and branching algorithms;
- Variables and logical operators;
- Programming project work.
Content and approach of a programming course in secondary school:
- An Introduction to Harvard CS50 Computer Science Courses;
- Programming Fundamentals and Algorithms;
- Data processing and analysis;
- Programming paradigms and libraries;
- Programming project planning, development, presentation;
- Methodology.
