The RBS Executive MBA Leadership Development Practicum is designed to strengthen and refine your leadership capabilities through an intensive, hands-on learning experience. The practicum is led by distinguished experts and accomplished industry professionals who bring real-world insights into the classroom.

Using an experiential learning approach, the program bridges the gap between theory and practice, offering participants the opportunity to apply leadership models, tools, and concepts in real-time scenarios. This practical, action-based methodology ensures that learning is deeply integrated and immediately applicable.

Unique within the Baltic region, the Leadership Development Practicum delivers a transformational learning experience that empowers executives to lead with confidence, clarity, and impact.

Leadership Development Practicum

The Leadership Development Practicum is at the core of your Executive MBA experience (LDP). This one-of-a-kind program in Latvia has been created using the experience and expertise of leading international professionals, and is available only to our Executive MBA students. Leadership is a broad concept, and it is critical for all of us to understand the needs of the practicum participants so we can focus on the key issues concerning each participant. RBS uses “experiential learning,” which means that your program focuses on how to take the leadership models, tools, and concepts you learn in class one day and apply them the next day in your leadership role. We use an intensive combination of lectures, case studies, assessments, “on-the-job” exercises, and self-reflection, which have been proven to be the most effective approach to leadership development.

During the Practicum, you will develop a thorough understanding of the key concepts (theories, methods, and models) of leadership as it is used in a variety of business and social contexts. The Practicum helps you develop a flexible leadership style that inspires, motivates, and mobilizes others, masters new personal leadership skills, and focuses on the application of what you learn in class. When you work on your own issues, you are supported and advised in making the necessary changes to meet your personal and organizational goals. You will work in a challenging environment that promotes development and employs peer review, quick feedback, personal journals, and mentoring/coaching sessions to ensure that you learn the skills and frameworks necessary to become a more successful leader and person.

Case-based
learning

The program incorporates an extensive selection of case studies from leading institutions such as Harvard Business School, IESE Business School, and The Case Centre, providing participants with practical insights into complex, real-world business scenarios.

The Case Method requires active participation and discussion. Cases are also not only about individual learning or decisions, but also rely on the work of groups of co-learners. The case itself describes the scenario in the context of the events, people and factors that influence it within real business experiences.

Two study
trips

Through our exceptional partner schools and organizations, the program offers both a European and a transcontinental study trip. Each trip is designed as an immersive learning module centered around a specific theme—such as technology and innovation, negotiation, the inner workings of the European Union, or global business dynamics.

The Global Study Experience is aimed at broadening the global perspective of students. This is an excellent opportunity to learn in  the global business environment. The Executive MBA program includes two Global Study Experience trips – European Union Study trip and a Trans-continental Study trip.

The up to five days long Study Experience trip will include carefully selected topics, enriching it with international case studies, seminars, conferences, company visits, interaction and networking with executives, entrepreneurs and leaders representing academic, governmental and global business communities.

Riga Business School has previously organized trips to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), BI Norwegian Business School (Norway), the State University of New York at Buffalo (USA), University of Stellenbosch Business School (South Africa), Westford School of Management (United Arab Emirates), and Jiao Tong University (People’s Republic of China in Shanghai).

Your Degree
