Position of Director of Riga Business School at Riga Technical University

The mission of Riga Business School at Riga Technical University is to provide a modern and international education for leaders in a technology-based world. Riga Business School is located in Riga, Latvia, but provides studies for both local and foreign students. RBS provides two bachelor programs in Business Administration and Computer Science and Organization Technologies, a Professional MBA, an Executive MBA as well as Executive Education. It coordinates several innovative educational programs with international partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To manage and organize the work of Riga Business School (RBS) and contribute to the achievement of RBS’s strategic goals.
  2. To provide high-quality, internationally recognized business education to a growing student population.
  3. To ensure high-quality study and scientific work at Riga Technical University and to supervise economic, financial, and personnel matters.
  4. To supervise the implementation of study programs at all stages of education.
  5. To represent RBS in the RTU Senate and RTU administrative bodies.
  6. To ensure the integration of scientific research into the study process at RBS according to the levels of the programs being implemented.
  7. To contribute to the financial sustainability of RBS and ensure budget planning and execution.
  8. To plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of RBS staff and departments.
  9. To attract academic staff to RBS and coordinate their academic work.
  10. To promote an effective environment for technology transfer, innovation development, and cooperation with enterprises and organizations.
  11. To strengthen cooperation with RBS supporters, enterprises, public organizations, and public authorities.
  12. To report on the performance of RBS to the RBS Advisory Board and the RBS Council.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A good reputation (i.e., there is no reasonable doubt regarding the applicant’s good character and no evidence to the contrary).
  • A PhD or equivalent and relevant other experience relevant to the development of RBS.
  • At least three years of managerial experience. Managerial positions include senior and middle management roles in state and local government, as well as in public or private corporations and universities.
  • Academic work experience.
  • Fluency in the national language and English (C level, Grade 1).
  • An understanding of the higher education sector.

SALARY RANGE:

  • From 5500.00 EUR (gross), based on the applicant’s experience and skills.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  1. Selection Round I – selection of eligible applicants.
  2. Selection Round II – Structured interview (interview).
  3. Selection Round III – In-depth interview (presentation and competency interview).

Applicants for the position of Director shall include the following documents in their application:

  1. Application (Annex 1).
  2. A signed Curriculum Vitae, preferably in the standard Europass format (available at europass.lv).
  3. Copies of educational documents (diplomas). If the degree was obtained abroad, include a certificate from the Academic Information Centre that confirms the equivalence of the foreign qualification in Latvia.
  4. A copy of the state language certificate issued by the State Centre for Education Content (required if the applicant has not completed primary, secondary, or higher education in accredited programs in Latvian).
  5. Any other documents the applicant considers necessary to include.
  6. For 2nd Selection Round the applicant must submit a proposal for the future development of RBS, outlining the strategies and methods for implementation (3 to 5 A4 pages). Information about RBS is available at www.rbs.lv and other publicly accessible sources.

The RBS Director is directly subordinate to the Rector of Riga Technical University and is appointed for a term of five (5) years.
