At Riga Business School, we believe in interdisciplinarity – while studying business and IT our bachelor program students enhance their soft skills and creativity . Last year, our US History students explored Haiku poetry, a special way for them to share their thoughts on historical events through a traditional Japanese poem.

A Haiku has three lines with a syllable pattern of 5-7-5, allowing students to capture emotions and moments in a short and beautiful way. Our students have written many Haikus, and we’re excited to announce that we have gathered their work into one collection for everyone to read and enjoy.

Led by our dedicated lecturer, Chiaki Bems, this method promotes critical thinking and action-based learning. By integrating Haiku into the curriculum, students are encouraged to personalize their learning experiences while exploring the rich tapestry of US History. The Haiku journey serves as a heuristic course that fosters process learning, where students engage creatively with the subject matter.

In addition, this initiative enhances creative and artistic thinking, encouraging collective learning through mutual feedback and voting. The collection not only showcases individual talent but also acts as a semi-public display of our students’ creativity.

We invite everyone to explore this remarkable compilation of Haikus, celebrating the artistic spirit and ingenuity of our students at Riga Business School!
