On Monday, 28 October, an innovative educational event will be organized in Cēsis Municipality – a logic game, “Cēsis Puzzle Day,” in which 25 high school teams or 75 high school students from Cēsis Municipality educational institutions will participate. During the game, teams of students in grades 10 to 12 will solve 10 logic problems based on the principles of the prestigious Harvard University logic game.

The game aims to improve students’ teamwork skills, problem-solving techniques, and creative and critical thinking, which are essential prerequisites for developing STEM skills.

The logic game will be organized by Riga Business School as a unit of Riga Technical University. The event will take place at the Space Cognition Centre, Cīrulīšu Street 63, Cesis, Cesis County.

The top five teams will be able to participate in Riga Business School’s leadership program Future Changemakers Academy: Digital Content Creator from 9 November to 21 December. The remaining participants will receive prizes from Luminor bank.

The logic game “Puzzle Day” is organized by the Cēsis Municipality within the framework of the sustainability of the European Social Fund project “Support for the Development of Individual Competences of Learners” to ensure the diversity of educational services.

Linda Markus-Narvila, Head of the Education Department of Cēsis Municipality: “One of the topical issues of Cēsis Municipality in education is ensuring diversity of education services at all stages of education. Technology and innovation are an integral part of the modern education service. Therefore, the logic game “Puzzle Day” is an appropriate platform to develop learners’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. During the game, learners will solve logic problems using their creativity and problem-solving skills.”

The introduction of the logic game will provide an opportunity for learners in grades 10-12 in Cēsis educational institutions to demonstrate their skills in solving non-standard problems and develop the ability to work effectively in teams, which will contribute to the development of learners’ STEM skills and can become a common platform for education and innovation for both students and teachers.

In Latvia, the logic game “Puzzle Day” has been organized in Riga, Ogre, and Sigulda municipalities.
