Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, Riga Technical University (RTU) Faculty of Science and Technology offers a new specialization, “Biotechnology,” in the academic Master’s level study program “Chemistry and Chemical Technology,” which combines knowledge of natural sciences with entrepreneurship.
This innovative specialization has been developed in collaboration with RTU Riga Business School, offering students the opportunity to combine practical knowledge in natural sciences with the skills essential for starting and running a business.
The main advantages of specialization:
Combination of biotechnology knowledge and entrepreneurship: alongside the core courses, students will have the opportunity to simultaneously develop entrepreneurship and innovation skills through the Riga Business School course program. These skills are essential for building successful start-ups in this fast-growing field.
Environmental and industrial biotechnology with international experience: for those who want international experience and in-depth specialization, there will be an alternative option to study environmental and industrial biotechnology at a partner university abroad within the ERASMUS+ program. This international experience will broaden students’ horizons and provide valuable knowledge.
Hands-on experience and innovation: the program offers practical courses and projects that allow students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. This approach fosters both scientific excellence and entrepreneurial skills.
The new specialization aims to prepare future leaders who will be able to harness the potential of biotechnology to tackle global challenges and drive innovation. This specialization is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful professionals and entrepreneurs.
