Director for Riga Business School at Riga Technical University

Riga Business School, as a unit at Riga Technical University (RBS), was established in 1991 in cooperation with the State University of New York in Buffalo, USA, and the University of Ottawa, Canada. Its mission is to provide a modern and international education for leaders in a technology-based world. RBS is located in Riga, Latvia, but provides studies for both local and international students.

RBS, now one of the leading business schools in the Baltics, offers management programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and plays an important role in developing and innovating higher education in Latvia.

RBS was the first higher education institution in the region to offer a North American management-style MBA in English. At the master’s level, the school offers an Executive MBA and MBA program, also developing executive education courses. The school offers two programs at the baccalaureate level – a Bachelor of Business administration and a Bachelor of IT leadership launched in 2019. RBS provides high quality language training to support RBS academic programs and to serve a diverse set of business and community needs. RBS is a coordinator of several education innovation programs in Latvia funded by the European Union.

RBS has over a thousand MBA alumni, most of whom occupy leading managerial positions in Latvia and internationally.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and organize the work of the Riga Business School;
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor the work of subordinate employees and structural units;
  • Attract academic staff;
  • The Director should provide strong leadership to the management team to further develop and enhance the RBS study programs and reputation, and strengthen RBS ties with businesses, the community, and governmental entities.

Key requirements

  • Strategic vision to offer a high-quality, internationally recognized business education in the Baltic region;
  • A deep understanding of contemporary higher education and societal processes;
  • Should have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
  • C2-level knowledge of the Latvian language and an excellent knowledge of the English language;
  • A PhD will be considered as an advantage.

We offer

  • The basic monthly salary of the position of Director is 3025 EUR gross with the maximum allowable coefficient of “5” (academic position). The salary scale of the post will be applied considering the candidate’s experience and skills;

The Director reports directly to the Rector of Riga Technical University, and the appointment by the Rector is for a five (5) year term.
